Hitched Advertising costs for wedding photographers & wedding videographers
We started advertising on hitched around 2019, the pandemic meant we had to rethink our advertising we contacted hitched and set up an advertising program with them.
In August 2019 we started our adverting on hitched.co.uk
“Hi Andrew,
I hope you are well today.
It’s great to have you listed in the hitched suppliers directory.
Your 12 month National listing and 3 x Spotlight listings is now live in the Videography category; ”
They provided us with an excellent discount to their “standard” charges. We were paying under £1000 per year for a listing in all the counties plus SPOLIGHT adverts on hitched in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire
In January we added the following spotlight adverts on hitched.co.uk “Could you confirm for me that you’d like to add 3 x 12 month Spotlight slots in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire + Dorset in the Videography category for £525+VAT? ”
With everyone in lockdown wedding planning boomed and yes we took some bookings and the adverting costs on hitched worked for us.
Despite some issues with the adverts not rotating in the spotlight adverts as promised and the reviews on The Wedding Photo Company not appearing in order all was good
Why did we cancel our wedding videography advertising on hitched?
In March 2019 The Knot purchased Hitched, slowly but surely the American company changed the way hitched worked and also the pricing structure changed dramatically.

Positioning of wedding videographer or wedding photography adverts on hitched
We were promised adverts that would rotate, many a time the hitched staff would state that hitched have an algorithm, which being website designers have challenged. Hitched have recently explained that we remained bottom of all the wedding videographers paying for a spotlight, a spotlight on hitched is supposed to put your advert at the top just to clarify, because or advert was more successful that other wedding videographer advertisers on hitched we were positioned lowers down to make things fair to other advertisers. So fellow wedding photographers and videographers be warned, if your spotlight or general listing advert with hitched works well than they will penalise you and place the advert lower! What are hitched thinking…this maybe one of the reasons larger and more successful wedding photo and video businesses do not advertise with hitched.co.uk
This is an extract from a recent email with hitched.co.uk
“The key factor being spend vs performance = position (this ensures that positioning is fair across all clients).”
So to reiterate the better your advert performs the lower down in listing position it will appear, so your aim must be for a wedding advert with hitched not to work…you will then be positioned higher
2. Reviews for Wedding Photographers and Videographers on hitched.co.uk
Although the Wedding Photo Company have 170 reviews on hitched and are 5 star rated many of our reviews are not in date order, this we found really disappointing for our brides and grooms, they would leave a review and this review would be misplaced on the list of reviews, with 170 reviews if this is not in the correct order it would be very difficult to find.
3. The Quality of leads you will receive as a wedding photographer or videographer advertising on hitched
Will we receive leads by advertising on hitched you may ask, YES is the answer, but many of the leads appear erroneous, the majority of emails were sent without response and often we would try calling, again no response

Enquiries (1,601) Bookings according to Hitched 65
That’s at least 1601 emails we have sent and to book only 65 weddings on hitched? This we found to be a very poor return in comparison to our other advertising
4. Spotlight Advertising for Wedding Photographers & Wedding Videographers on Hitched.co.uk
We like the idea of spotlight advertising and the staff are very keen to promote the spotlights
Before advertisers used to be able to see how the adverts were performing, they removed this option around 3 years ago which was useful to see if things were working
5. Advertising costs for Wedding Photographers & Wedding Videographers on Hitched.co.uk
When we first started advertising on hitched we were paying around £65 for an area listing and a couple of hundred pounds for spotlight adverting. The area listings are around £400 an area and the spotlights are now thousands!
Hitched advertising for wedding photography and videography unfortunately has become too expensive for us

There are many alternatives to advertising on hitched for Wedding Photographers & Wedding Videographers that in our opinion offer the photographer and videographer much better value to the current hitched advertising costs, these alternatives include

The are so many alternatives to advertising your wedding business on hitched we have become pleasantly surprised on their performance and are now saving money!

Potential bride and grooms looking to book wedding photographers and videographers could end up paying more money for services as the advertisers have to cover the cost of their hitched advertising so it may be wise to shop around
